I grew up in an Italian food-centric household where things never truly felt alive unless everyone was pitching in for dinner and music was playing in the background. My grandmother would frequently stop by to cook us dinner on weeknights and Sunday dinner was a family requirement. I would often help my grandmother make homemade pasta and prep for these dinners. I never found my own interest in cooking until after college when I finally had the proper equipment and room to enjoy the process.
I stick to recipes with few ingredients that are easy to throw together after a busy day and can often be found hosting impromptu dinner parties much like those I grew up around. Pasta will always be comfort food but I enjoy the lighter versions these days like this simple salad.

- fresh basil - 1 bunch
- fresh mozzarella cheese - 1 pound
- penne pasta - 1 pound
